Richard E. Tremblay is Professor of Pediatrics, Psychiatry and Psychology at the University of Montreal, Professor of Child Development at University College Dublin and co-director of the International laboratory on children’s mental health (Inserm, France). For the past three decades he has been conducting a program of longitudinal and experimental studies on physical, cognitive, emotional and social development from conception to adulthood. One of his main interests has been the developmental origin of chronic antisocial behavior and its prevention.
He is a Fellow of the Academy of Experimental Criminology, the founding director of the Centre of Excellence for Early Childhood Development and its online Encyclopedia on early childhood development. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, his recent book on early prevention of violent behavior won the French academy of moral and political science prize for prophylactics.
